Alan Downs, Ph.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and intensively trained DBT therapist in private practice in Beverly Hills, California.
Dr. Downs is probably best known as author of The Velvet Rage: Overcoming Trauma of Growing Up Gay in a Straight Man's World. He is also the former CEO of Michael's House Treatment Center in Palm Springs, California. He is currently the director of the DBT Recovery Center, which provides intensive outpatient treatment for addictions.
